Hi
Well in New Zealand you have to have a Number Plate on your car, etc, and on your Bicycle  :P
Ha Ha
I have been until today running my "Mountain Bike Club" race number as people I come across ask where I'm from? so that is why.
::) My saddle Bag is one of my custom bag's made for me by a good friend, off my Africa bike after this years "Tour d'Afrique" I worked out the design and he made them up. I'm thing to have a new custom bag made up (I'm working on the design) to fit down the back of the seat tube  :) for my tool's and maybe one tube.

Pete.....
 ;)
custom bags huh guess it's who you know what  ::) Pete the reason i asked i bought the carradice bag support to use to support the camper bag which works great when the bag is full but not so good when only carrying a light load, the bag is to wide and it flops on either side of rack  (not so good) your bag look spot on. ;)

Jags, could you make a stiffener to go inside the bag which will allow it to keep its shape better, possibly made from corrugated plastic similar to that found in some pannier bags.. I use to use a ready made open plastic tub for my handle bar bag which had the same sort of issues...

Dave.

Dave i tried that no luck, problem i have not to much seatpost  so the bag is almost at a 45% angle as  i said when the camper bag is stuffed  it's no problem.
to be honest i think i'll just put the barbag back on the bars save me a lot of hassle  ::)

Hi all,
I'm also going to custom handlebar bag? Why because of my H-Bars!
I'll make a Pvc 4 sided box (no bottom) have my friend make a bag around it?
You will just have to wait and see  ;)

ah give us some idea pete  ;) interested to see how you go about making your idea come to life, if the design is spot on the making of the bag should be straight forward, well near enough  ::)

Hi Pete
thanks for the saddle info. As a seasoned (broken in) Brooks man do you know if the champion flyer type saddle has more rearward adjustment than the regular B17? Is the seat on your bike set as far back as it is possible to go?
It looks like these sprung saddles might better support a small saddle bag like  the Carradice Barley ie a bit bigger than the neat one you have now. Have you (or anyone else out there) tried this combination?
Thanks for the advice. I can feel a spend coming on soon.
Ian

Here is a random photo off the web with a Carradice bag on a Flyer. You can see that the springs push into the bag. I seem to recall reading someplace that the movement of the springs could wear into the bag.

I use the SQR mechanism to support my bag:

That's a Carradice Junior. It is a nice size, not huge but still you can get a lot in there. The sides and bottom are not stiff.

Well 1st off yes a plastic stiffener is the way to go inside a Carradice Saddlebag! Yes it works! I have a  Carradice Saddlebag http://kiwipetescyclingsafari.blogspot.co.nz/2011/08/spring-is-in-air.html have a look it worked very well, with My Brooks Flyer and a small support of the seat post.

2nd My Saddlebag (which is off My Africa Bike) is designed off a Carradice Zipped Roll, I had it made for Me as I was after a set of Brown Bags? http://kiwipetescyclingsafari.blogspot.co.nz/2012/01/bike-bags-made-and-fitted-and-tested.html Yes I did design all the bag's and have them made for me (at a little cost)

3rd ?? "Give us some idea Pete interested to see how you go about making your idea come to life, if the design is spot on the making of the bag should be straight forward, well near enough"
Well I'll try too! 1st off why "PVC 4 sided box" Having the side stiffened with PVC is to hold the shape of the bag and keep my things in place. 2nd No Bottom (PVC) ? this stop's damage to my gear that is in my bag on dirtroad's. 3rd ?? More to come  :P  draw your bag on paper and cut it out and try it out before having it made for you..

I hope this helps You all about Bags  ::)

Thanks for that jim ,wonder would it be a hassle to stiffen bottom and sides of that bag, i think it cost £55 so don't want to but another lame duck ::)
thanks jim.

Hi Pete,

What do you think of those Jones H bars?
I was thinking of some for my mountian bike for what we call Rough stuff riding.
They seem to give several different hand positions even stretched out if needed?
Cheers Steve
