Oh...wow.  Wow!

Amref just keeps getting better and better, Pete, and the number plate pretty much adds icing to the cake. I keep telling you...give Charley and Ewan a run for their money on the next Long Way Down.

Stunning, especially in its "natural habitat".

To paraphrase Oliver Twist, "Please, Sir, we want more"!

Best,

Dan.

Hi Pete!

To make the change from one fork to another easier, will you be setting up the rigid fork with brakes and a lower headset race? If so, with your setup, I would imagine a swap could take place pretty quickly.

If you do this, will you also use cable splitters?

All the best,

Dan.

Hi Pete!

My, I'm surely glad you brought your camera with you so we could "join" you in such a lovely Spring day! Those are gorgeous scenes, and Amref is looking handsome as usual. You've all your bottles with you, but I think I see something new in the middle of the top tube. Perhaps a protective wrap against the 'bars striking in a fall?

This may be a bit of an odd question, but...

Is the air fragrant with Spring?  I've often found Spring smells different depending on my cycling locale. Here in Oregon's Willamette Valley, the air smells of freshly tilled soil, farmland, and river-bottom (loam). In Eastern Oregon, the bloom is often on the sage, and the air is filled with the scent of it all. In the forests, the overwhelming odor is of pine and fir, and on the coast there is the tang of sea air. I used to fly to San Diego in Southern California every 4-6 weeks for awhile, and was always struck by the spicy smell of flowers when I stepped off the plane, as if I had just landed in Hawaii or something. The climate there is always mild like Springtime (23C or so), and it really encourages the flowers to bloom. The have a lot of eucalyptus trees, too.

So...what does it smell like in your photos?   ???

Another great job, as usual. Thanks for sharing, Pete!

Best,

Dan.

Hi Dan,
"I think I see something new in the middle of the top tube. Perhaps a protective wrap against the 'bars striking in a fall?" ???
Dan, I have had on a protective wrap from day one of the build! You are right it's to help stop damage to the top tube from the Brake Lever's in case of a big OFF!
By the way I have a Brown protective being made to fit in place of the black one! (to match my old Africa bag's  ::))

Is the air fragrant with Spring?
 ???
Not for a few more week's! (I think as I have a Cold?)

By the way I adjusted My Handlebar's today and I think it's going to be all good!

Pete........

Hi Pete
may I ask if that is a Brooks Champion flyer you have there?  If so does it work for you for vibes and bumps? In many ways it looks like a nicer solution than a suspension seat post (cheaper, simpler, less moving parts  etc).
Thanks in anticipation
Ian

Hi
Well in New Zealand you have to have a Number Plate on your car, etc, and on your Bicycle  :P
Ha Ha
I have been until today running my "Mountain Bike Club" race number as people I come across ask where I'm from? so that is why.
::) My saddle Bag is one of my custom bag's made for me by a good friend, off my Africa bike after this years "Tour d'Afrique" I worked out the design and he made them up. I'm thing to have a new custom bag made up (I'm working on the design) to fit down the back of the seat tube  :) for my tool's and maybe one tube.

Hi Ian,
It's a Brooks Flyer Special (in Brown), Yes it works great at cutting down on vibes and bumps! I raced 24 hour Solo race's for a few years (OK 4 or 5) and had a full Suspension Mountain Bike (Ti) but changed to a Hard Tail Ti 29er and fitted this Saddle it is so good just love it (it's my 4th Brooks or is it my 5th?) after riding 2000km's at the start of this year (in North Africa) in only 3.5 weeks? My Bum just loved it.
