Ohh, Pete...it didn't show up. Take a look at embedding image tags (Method 2) here: http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=4313.0 and I think it'll pop right up as you wish.

'Always nice to see pics of that lovely yellow Nomad in your scenic locale!

All the best,

Dan. (...Can't wait to see it! Sun, warming...sounds really good right now with flooding expected in my area this weekend)

This year I got very very sick in an Sudan Hospital, Got Kidnapped  out of the Hospital by the staff from Tour d'Afrique put into a plane (Kenya Flying Doctors) to Nairobi Kenya. Once in Nairobi hospital they find out wot was wrong with me and I started to get better after a few weeks. Being away from Home and not knowing anyone, My Aunt got hold of the New Zealand Consul about Me being ill in Hospital. Tom can to see me, He was Hon. Consul to New Zealand. Tom Diju Owuor went well beyond call of duty by coming to see Me two or three times a week plus Tom's Wife and Children came in to See Me to, Once I got out of Hospital and was an Out Patient (still in Nairobi) He still came around to see Me.
I was in Nairobi for over 8 week's, Tom was a Big help and became a friend.
Well last week Tom died, a sad day.
I'm going to Name My New Touring Bike after Him, TOM.
I'll be thanking of Him when I'll out cycling (Be it in NZ or Overseas)
Thanks Tom.

Oh, such sad news indeed for you, Pete; I'm very sorry for your loss.

I think this points up just how important it is to extend a hand in time of need, especially to those traveling far, far from home and in dire circumstances. Tom was surely the kind one, and the world will be poorer for his loss.

Pete, I can't think of a better tribute than "Tom Nomad" from here forward. Each ride and effort will be a tribute in honor.

Well done.

All the best,

Dan.

Hi Pete!

Good to hear from you again; I was about to drop a PM your way to see if all was well.

Yes, I can imagine Tom and yourself are chewing at the bit to get away for a bit -- 5 days or so with the new C'dice bags full to the brin should do it, especially if the weather holds! Don't forget the camera.

How are things progressing towards Africa, Part Deux? Do you have reservations in hand, or is it still a bit early for that?

So looking forward to hearing how things are going wrt to the Next Big Africa!

Do take care and try to keep some time for yourself so you don't get too wprn down before departure. You've a lot ahead!

All the best,

Dan.

Good on ya, Pete! These sound like fabulous trips in themselves, each worthy of a lifetime's memories afterwards. Really nice to catch up with old friends and family as well!

'Can't wait to hear all about the planning and execution as they develop and all support and best wishes your way; you surely deserve a smooth journey after all you've been through -- and the hard work to make it happen again! It.will.happen. With your efforts behind it, there can be no doubt!

Best,

Dan.

Aww, Pete! What a disappointment, I know. I've had some carefully planned tours that didn't "happen" due to forces beyond my control, and I know what a disappointment it can be. I'm sorry.

Well, the good news is, "Next Year" is just a few days away, so I'm hoping the trail mud may yet drain away and make your route ridable.

<nods> Yes, a loaded bike doesn't allow the handling leeway of an unladen one, and you are very wise to wait till conditions improve. Better to be safe than sorry in this case; good on ya, Pete!

Yes, disappointing, I know, but you've bigger things ahead in your future, so a bit of a wait now or even a rescheduling for a much later date is probably better in the long run.

Hang in there!

All the best,

Dan.

Good, better than best, Pete. I was wondering how you two were getting along. Any recent mini-tours? Some more trail riding?

All the best,

Dan.
