Andre!

Terrific photos, and the very definition of a Cycling Gentleman -- class, class and more class; the picture of sartorial elegance (and a pretty mean cyclist; the proof is in the just-climbed hill behind you!).

You're a great writer, and it's wonderful to see the "full you" at last. 'Done yourself proud, you have!

Best,

Dan.

You're so right, Dan. The hill and the bike are connected. I bought the Rohloff-equipped bike specifically because by calculation it would give me the leverage to get up the hill without straining my heart.

Not Cork City, Julian, Bandon, a bit into the West Cork countryside. I have the usual Abus Granit X 54 U-lock and a cable but I'm currently revising the security arrangements of the bike. The description has been been started at http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=3930.0 but for the time being the installation is on hold until small parts come so I can make a clean sweep of all the necessary installations of new transmission (everything except the Rohloff), security, steering and electrics all at the same time.

Stutho .... nice shot, but ... I was thinking that it would look even better with you on the Thorn ... in that same spot?  Thanks.

Isn't free advice great?!

Now that sounds like a challenge!  Shot was taken about 400m above the valley floor.  As my rock climbing rope is only 60m  I wouldn't be able to haul the bike directly to the top. (not that I would want to  - it would get very bashed up)  Anyone got access to a helicopter with a winch?

I was about to say, "Get down off of there!" but immediately rethought it...don't take the express route, please; we value our mod!

When I can unclench my sphincters, I'll return for another look.

What a terrific photo, Stuart! So glad you posted this, and surely pleased t'meet'cha!

Pete! A fine photo from you, too, and like the rest of us, "right out of Central Casting" in the role of Adventurous, Enthusiastic Cyclists. :D We uh, share a common "feature" with sunshine and helmet tans. <shakes hand> Good to finally meet!

All the best, Fellow Thornies!

Dan.

Me on LEJOG in 2010, first one was Cornish Pasty lunch on the outskirts of Truro, second photo is me in Wick beside the statue of my great-great-uncle!
Bike is my Thorn Audax mk3, loaded up with luggage for two!

Well, share, man! There's two bottles of drinks there. :D

A really, really nice touring setup, and you the very picture of the accomplished and happy touring cyclist. Just the sort of photos to start a non-traveler thinking..."Hmm. 'Must start looking at panniers....".

Hello there!

Best,

Dan.
