I think it looks better if the shifter cables go underneath the bottom bracket shell, see photo of mine.  The purpose of the rubber band wrapped around the two bolts is so that if one bolt got loose, it won't unthread and fall out.

Hi, Thanks for that tip! Mine normally do (without the laggy band - now added) but I was trying not to block the view of the serial number and the S&S for the photo.

That’s a great Nomad and I bet it could tell some great tales of the South Island ( One of my favourite places to be) With spring around the corner I’m sure you’ll get plenty of interest and a buyer. Coincidentally my first Nomad ( MK1 derailleur) was ridden to NZ and never came back.

Hi, Yes, I got back from NZ with the bike a month ago. It's been a below average summer in Central Otago but that was a heap better than the winter awaiting me in west Wales. My Nomad and me did the Central Otago Rail Trail three times and the Alps to Ocean Trail, plus daily biking around Glenorchy, north of Queeenstown, but with each successive grandchild being born my cycling time got less and less, so I decided to bring it home and use a more modest machine out there. I've decided to put the proceeds of the Nomad sale to adding a Pendix eDrive to my Thorn Raven.
