A few days up to Orkney from Aberdeen.
Lovely weather.

Following with interest, have a good trip, hope the weather is as nice there as it is here, though I suspect it's still windy.
When I went to Hoy, we crossed on the small ferry where the bikes had to be manhandled on, can't remember where we boarded but it was an interesting crossing.

Enjoy, Matt.

"Envy" doesn't capture my problem:  Ottawa had another 11 cms of snow last night.

Word on the street is that "spring" is now part of the disinformation biz...  :(

Not sure if that wee ferry you took is running. Word was, it was out for repair. It went/ goes from Stromness to Linksness.
I took the car roll on and roll off one from Houton to Lyness.
I did think of returning to the mainland on the ferry you took but then I'd be further from Kirkwall on landing.
I'm pretty cautious with times when visiting islands.
Today for example I went to Rousaay. I went around it in less than 2 hours, with frequent stops. I had estimated 3+ hours.
Caught and early ferry back.

Yes, weather is still good and no strong winds.
Rousaay had a few naughty hills but stunning scenery made up for sore legs.

Cheers.
It's my fourth time here so happy to pass on any tips if you're coming up again.

In May I'll be on Shetland. A lovely but very different island to Orkney.

I had a challenging ride around Rousay last year. A change in wind direction meant I missed the last ferry of the day. Thankfully I was allowed to stay in the
Waiting room/Interpretive centre overnight. It was very comfortable and dry, a treat as I was camping! I caught the 6am ferry next morning back to the mainland. All good fun but a lesson learned. Check the forcast!

Wow that's quite an adventure.
An overnight on Rousaay in style!!

I'm having a lazy off the bike day today.
Two days of 45+ miles has hit my ol' legs hard.
Might as well enjoy my last 12 hours here before catching the 2300 ferry back to Aberdeen tonight.

Landing there at 7am for a 2 hours ride home.

Next visit I'll spend 5+ days here. So much to see here even after my fourth visit.

Cheers
