Help Danneaux choose jersey color

Hi All!

Silly season question of the day: Which jersey should I choose?

The local outlet of a national chain had a closeout on two fleece-lined jerseys. I feel I can afford to keep one (they said "take 'em both and see which you prefer". Okay...). They are identical except the colors are reversed.

The one I am leaning toward (Choice One) is predominantly red with black trim. The red portions are on the front and back, increasing visibility.

Choice Two is predominantly black with red trim. The black parts face forward and back. Not so visible to traffic, but much better at absorbing a bit of heat from watery sunshine (I have chosen most of my cold-weather clothing in black for this very reason. I can *feel* the difference).

Both jerseys match my red-and-black Ortlieb Packer-series panniers. Either jersey might be covered by neon-yellow/green high-viz wind or rain jackets, but I do have another rain jacket (pictured below) in a color scheme to match Choice One.

Which should I choose?

I vote for Choice #1. It is more visible. It also makes you look more ... muscular.

Red one all the way Dan. A good contrast is always better than a so-so match. Besides, black on black renders you to a bit to close to Spidey-Dan!

Things are tipping the way of the red one, but I also like black.

Showed the photos to my wife, who is an artist with good taste, if I do say so myself.

Her vote is for the black one, although she admits the red would be more visible.

I think the colour scheme on the back of the black one is quite attention grabbing myself.

So I vote go for the black, and keep your  blinky lights on all the time, which do more to enhance visibility than a brighter jersey.

I say this with utmost respect to my fellow Thornoids, whom I love dearly, but have OBVIOUSLY been collectively aflicted with a dreadful fashion sense!

The black is more stylish, more trendy (this year, black is the new black), and you'll be surprised at how visible that pattern is during the day. At night, it exhibits significantly greater contrast, and is presumably reflective?

Also, it makes you look, er... trimmer! It still matches the panniers (which you have wisely chosen the same as mine  , and if you feel the need to don the crimson, you can just put on the jacket!

I say BLACK, good sir! More Rhett Butler than Scarlett O'Hara - that's why you prefer it, don't you?
