Sorry your tires died in storage,  Anto. I've had good luck double - bagging my spares after squeezing out as much air as possible. Stored in a cool, dry place protected from ozone and oxygen, they last some years before deteriorating.

Maybe a similar strategy will help for next time?

Best,

Dan.

Sorry to hear that, Anto. I'd send you a spare set of tyres but everything I have is 38mm and over.

Mmm. Before I make any promises... I have tyres in storage, some just in the loft on wheels as removed from bikes, some hanging up on hookes in a cupboard as spares after being taken off part-worn because I was hunting around for the right tyres (which in my case turned out to be Big Apple Liteskin folding balloons), some Big Apple Spares in their original boxes. I'd better check everything and see what has perished.

Maybe Jags's misfortune is a hint to the rest of us.

Egads I have been stockpiling Marathon Supremes to trade for potatoes when the economy collapses! Methinks my strategy may not be so clever!

I thought it would be narrow tyres on that bike. I really don't know how people can ride on our roads on tyres that narrow and hard.

yeah good point but i've been riding 23mm tyres all my life  well 45years of it  ::) ::)
theres a lot to be said for big tyres 600x 1.75 like i had on the sherpa but the problem is riding in a group or with fiends when there on there carbon lightweight bikes, ::) impossible to stay with them when the average speed goes way up,believe me ive been there. when i went out my my buddy yesterday he was on his giant mountain bike and he just got a set of slicks on it the day before,on the way home i put the hammer down  sore back and all i was doing a steady 30 mph only for a  km  but steady 26 mph for a 4 km i thought he was on my wheel was he hell .
thats the penalty of of fat tyres and heavy bikes, great for solo stuff but not group riding .still having said that (nonsence) i'd love a raven sports tour carbon front forks rohloff hub  ;D ;D ceramic wheels the works wouldn't sort my back out but it would make anto a happy camper.

So Anto, am I getting you right? You're asking SJS to donate a set of Grand Bois, thanking them for nothing with an insult, and threatening to hit them up for an RST with carbon forks if they don't cooperate?

Can I get some of those drugs you're taking?  ;D :D Or maybe just send me yours. You sure as heck shouldn't be riding under the influence!  ::)

Ah Sam you would think they woul give me a freebi once in a while its always those that have it that wont part with it.

nah man just having a laugh im in so much pain with this feckin back of mine its making my life miserable, so i do me best to keep the sunny side up...well other than that i spent all afternoon changing my wheels over ,thought it was just a matter of adjusting the stays on the mudguards but no i had to change stays from one set of mudguards to the other ,obviously the tyres john was using were a tad wider than these ribmo 28.
still all done and dusted now .i could have saved myself all that work if i had the money to order new fecking tyres ::)

Anto broke and in pain but happy, well not in bad form put it that way.

Hi Anto

I've a got a spare 700x25mm Continental Gatorskin you can have for the price of the postage. It's not done many miles, but I don't use anything less than 28mm nowadays.

Send me a private message if you're interested.

I'm assuming you live in mainland uk. Collectplus is the cheapest local service, but won't accept a bike tyre because it's outside their dimension limits!! This leaves me with Parcelforce who are quoting £9.99 for their cheapest service!!

Let me know - send me your address if still interested!

Collect + will take tyres.
Fold them into a figure of eight.
