Finally, photo of my Audax mk 3
« on: August 31, 2014, 02:01:47 PM »

Thorn MK3 audax, Ultegra triple, stronglight 26/39/50, It's a superb bike, I use it to commute, for day rides, and have even used it on my local chaingang. I've taken the Spa saddle and steel forks off for the summer, and fitted some deda black rain forks and a selle italia c2 gel. I've got some 36h rims on deore hubs that I alternate with the ones pictured

I'm about to go and ride the Fred Whitton route as an overnighter, so have fitted a rack, I'll let you all know how it goes!

See the way you have your pump , ?
does it push the mudguard into the tyre..
mine does so i turned the pump upside down, worked perfect.

And keep one hand on the bars at all times  ;)

What have you made that lovely front mudflap with?

Happy rides

The mudguard has a cut-out for the pump ( bought like that, but great idea)

The mud flap looks like DPC  ( damp proof course)..... not 100% sure though ;)

I bought it off the ctc forum at easter, the bloke who built it was very good, all the threads are greased, great attention to detail.

I'll post some pics of this weeks ride, forecast looks fantastic ;D ;D

Blue bikes look the best! ;)

Lovely. I have the same pump and just had a semi circle cut out of the mudguard to stop it pushing the guard onto the tyre. Fits really nicely now.

Halfway round the fred whitton...  kirkstone, honister and newlands passes done: thank god for triple chain sets!
I'll post some pics later....

Edit: it's later!
Top of Wrynose pass...

2 day fred, despit Hardknott pass being steeper than the last time I rode up it (20 yrs ago!) and 110 miles and a lot of climbing everywhere apart from my legs is fine: testamount to Thorn's excellent frames. The orange Alpkit bag was all the luggage I took, flip flops, short, t-shirt, toothbrush and food. Great times!

Some elevation profile, I stopped at around the 90k mark overnight.
that shot reminds me of this song.
