Peter, what length stem do you have on your Sherpa? I am 5 foot 3 with 77cm inside leg, and Thorn recommended me 500L. I decided it was too long and after much deliberation, swapped for 475M (they were out of 500s for months in advance). I think it's ok with 100mm 15 degree stem, it's something for me to continually ruminate on! The Thorns are different than, say, a Dawes, because the front fork slopes back a lot (sure there's a technical term for that!) so a Thorn with a 54cm top tube may not feel the same as a Dawes.

Jane,

My stem is 90mm and i have thorn comfort bars which have a lot of sweep back.  Thorn were very insistent that I need a 500 L but I have never thought I needed the to tube to be any longer.  I went for an S and have never looked back.

Being a little shorter then average finding a bike to fit is difficult enough finding a bike to try out is impossible.

I brought the 500 s because I could sit on one at a show and it felt right and still thorn insisted I need a long. But thorn could not let me try it, shore reductions.  So I sat on a 500s and tested a much larger one on the test track.
