His and Hers Thorn Audax Mk3
« on: October 22, 2013, 06:23:50 PM »
The blue one is mine and built up about 5 years ago.  It rides like a dream and has given great service on challenge rides (C2C, W2W, Lochs and Glens etc.).  Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels, Durano Tyres, 105 Groupset but with 32 cassette and XT rear mech.

I built the red one up for my wife about a year ago.  Shimano RS3 wheels, Schwalbe Ultremo tyres, 105 Groupset but with a 36 cassette this time!

"Tandem", Jim, "tandem".

Twice the power, half the wind resistance, a good chance for the stoker to look around and see things...tandeming can be a great way to introduce a rider to touring, or equalize differences in speeds and abilities.

Fortunately (!) Thorn has a nice one here: http://www.sjscycles.com/thornpdf/ThornRavenTwinBroHiRes.pdf

...Or a derailleur-equipped triplet: http://www.sjscycles.com/thornpdf/ThornTridentBroHiRes.pdf

Speaking of Thorn tandems, there are far fewer offered these days. Choice seems to be down to the Raven Twin, a wonderful "twofer" indeed!

Best,

Dan.
