Bushnell EBB
« on: September 13, 2013, 02:12:37 pm »
Does anyone have experience with using the 'featherweight' Bushnell (http://www.bushnelltandems.com/eccentric.html) eccentric bottom bracket on their Thorn Nomad?

I'm looking at using something like this for adjustment rather than the agricultural way Thorn provide with the two bolts.

Also, if I went this route on my custom build, any idea on what would be best with respect to the two bolt holes that would be left in the frame (I wouldn't be looking at leaving the two bolts in situ). Some sort of plastic caps maybe?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I have one. Lovely bit of kit. I like the idea of a hex-key adjusable, expansion-fit EBB, like we have on our Trek T100 tandem.

The Bushnell turned out to be 1-2mm too big for the Thorn Nomad (sloppy measurement on my part before ordering). If you want to buy one for a cut-price PM me  :(

I believe the Thorn eccentric is is 51.2mm in diameter (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/eccentric-bottom-bracket-insert-fits-raven-mk2-sport-tour-catalyst-enduro-sterling-twin-tandem-prod9053/), while the Bushnell is 53.8, and thus won't fit.

Thanks for the input guys. Must admit soon after I posted I got to wondering if it would actually fit.

At least I know now for sure. Tis a shame though as it does look like a nice bit of kit.
