Years ago -- before I arrived on the scene -- my aunt bought my sister a pop gun, the kind where a cork-on-a-string is expelled from a plastic barrel, making a loud >POP!<

Nearly caused a rift in the family until it "disappeared".

If you don't like someone, buy their kid a drum.

All the best,

Dan. (...in sympathy and empathy and suggesting earplugs or an early "loss")

Take the pea out Jags, tell her its a magic whistle that only fairies can hear.
Dont forget to point out some fairies now and again and confirm with her she can see them.

Trust me, she will see fairies and blow that silent whistle all day.....

 ;)
In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

yes but - if she's any good and perseveres, she will have a lifetime of making music in front of her.  What greater gift could a granddad give?  And she'll always remember it was you who gave her it to her.
