Which Thorns would you bring back?
« on: February 14, 2013, 03:18:10 PM »
Thorn have now been building bikes for the best part of 20 years. In that time many models have come and gone. If you had your way which ones would you see them making again and why?

Andy
(There are no points for guessing which ons Jawine will go for:))

It would be nice to see more "dancing chain" (derailleur) bikes brought back, but Shimano's MTB and Road groups look to be heading toward reduced interchangeability going forward, so it may be a bit more difficult to mix the two...especially if drop 'bars are used.

Best,

Dan.

I do remember a very nice XTC Classic ( ex Andy B.) Black, yellow, red full retro paint job with chrome... a machine of real beauty. It's out there somewhere...

XTC! :)

And...shorter top tubes again. The Sherpa models on sale now literally don't fit me with drop bars. The only new bike I can ride with drops is the Audax, but I specifically want something with big clearance for bad roads/paths.

One bike to rule all roads!
Pedal to the metal! Wind, rain, hills, braking power permitting ;)

Hi Jawine, have you considered the all conquering, indestructible Club Tour (with short top tube)? I think the short top tube versions must be very short. I'm a mere 167 cm and ride a 517L.

A 495S might fit OK. 520 VT

But a 517L? That's a 560 VT, my XTC is 555 VT which is a 7 CM hi-rise stem and saddle all the way forward.
You must have a longer upper body than me :)

It's a slightly different beast than an XTC though, for some reason the fact that the XTC can be taken on Crappy Roads quite appeals to me. You've seen the UK roads ;)
