Oh! Now, Brummie, this is really outstanding!

Not that you needed to hear it from me, but I heartily approve!!!  I'm a fan of monochromatic bikes, and this is "it" at the red end of the spectrum.  Stunning!

Wow!

Please, can you tell us a bit more about what kind of paint you used, how you went about it, and such?

I am captivated and keep going back for one more look.....

More pics, please, and more details would be fantastic! "Mr. Deville, we're ready for our close-ups" to adapt an old phrase.

All the best,

Dan.

(Yes, I went back for more "second glances" and a few hard looks!)

Brummie, you didn't miss a trick on this one...

= Red seatpost
= Red stem
= Red fenders
= Red cable housing
= What appears to be a red-tinted chainring (!)

Wha-!?!  How?!?

Give, Man, give!  We need details! (or I do, at least; this is really great!)

Best,

Dan.

Ah Dan, - That's a Middleburn anodised red chainring (46t - if I remember correctly.) - You may also notice I'm running an EX box disc hub, converted a few years back to futureproof the hub should I get a Yellow Nomad like Peters ! !

Well, I think the result is outstanding, Brummie. Very well-done!  Good idea to go with the disc conversion. Detailed photos, man! I'm about to go either mad or blind trying to see more in that little photo...

Might we see a "YellowBird" in your future? It worked for Alois Ruf in his line of bespoke tuner Porsches...the YellowBird really put his company on the map internationally ( http://www.supercars.net/cars/1641.html ).

Hmm. SuperCar...SuperBike. Yeah, I can see that working out just fine!

Really interested to hear how you managed the red fenders. What paint did you use?  Both Rustoleum ( http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=118 ) and Krylon ( http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/ ) have recently developed spray paints designed to bond to plastic, opening up a whole spectrum (sorry) of possibilities that are very durable.
-- even on flexible plastic, like fenders.

Best,

Dan.

HI Dan,
The paint I used was 'Halfords' enamel spray paint "suitable for plastics, metal etc." Colour:RAL3001 ( I think RAL3002 might have been a closer (darker) match, but couldn't get hold of any... no primer just sprayed directly onto a spare pair of unused black SKS fenders I had laying around... The paint seems pretty durable so far.

...And I think it will continue to be, Brummie. That "paint for plastics' is really durable stuff, and seems to bond very well with the plastic substrate.  It is also flexible enogh to bend with the fenders without cracking or flaking, so you should be set for some time now.

I think you were very smart to apply the paint to new, unused fenders. No worries about scratches or trapping dirt beneath the paint.

By any chance, did you paint the inside as well, or just spray the outside and let whatever overspray there might be go inside? did you mask off the bbrackets that hold the stuts?

My, it sure does look nice!  I am...smitten; a gorgeous look! You can surely feel proud of your accomplishment.

All the best,

Dan.

Dan, I masked inside the fenders ( to save paint & avoid adding extra weight !!! ;D ) & also masked the stay eyelets.

Boy, you really did it right, Brummie, and it shows!

Just what I would have decided myself, and will really pay off years down the road. It also makes it look that much more like a true "factory" job, too!

A fantastic effort and result and it postively glows in the photo you posted. I'm just crazy about it!

All the best,

Dan. (who thinks Brummie would have a bright future in Bike Styling...)
