My! What fabulous scenery and country, Pete. Like Il Padrone Pete, I'd be interested to hear how suitable those tracks are for loaded touring with conventional tourers and such. From what I can see in the photos, they look pretty viable -- I'll be right over!
Best,
Dan.
Hi Dan and Pete,
Yes the tracks are suitable for loaded touring bikes!
If your tyres are wider then 40mm x 700c or 2" x 26".......
A Thorn Nomad is great for all of the tracks in this network
The book I posted about also lists back roads that join up this network, Which is a very good thing as New Zealand drivers
Do Not like Cyclists and a lot of main roads have
No room to ride along on the side of the roads. I have a hard time at work driving a Big
KW (Kenworth) truck with only 300mm (12") of room to play with (side of road to centre line - truck)
The main thing is to see the true beauty of New Zealand.
It is Not to be seen from the roads of NZ but the back roads and off road tracks (new cycle tracks of NZ)
So come on up to the top of the World and See New Zealand
