Well after waiting for My new Nomad MK2 (Yellow 540L) to turn up?
It was dropped off late Sunday afternoon (Thanks)
So far I have replaced the (damaged) Headset with a Cane Creek 110.
Replace the STD Thorn seatpost shim (29.8 to 27.2) with a Cane Creek (30.0 to 27.2) shim   why? because on checking the inside size of the seat tube it is 30.14mm and when the seatpost is fitted it was loose! but with the bigger shim the seatpost fit is all good.
Replaced STD seatpost with a Thomson silver seatpost, why just because I had one laying around.

This is just fantastic, and I am so happy and pleased for you!

Wow!  It came! I can't wait to see photos soonest. I have posted some tips on how to upload photos, and they can be found here:

And...yellow!  Gee, I love that color. Back in 1972, I got my first "10-speed", a Schwinn Varsity Sport (steel drop handlebars accounted for the "Sport" designation, and it had a solid forged-steel fork) in Kool Lemon (words like cool were spelled with a "k" 'cos it made them, well, "Kool"), a color very like Thorn's Tonka yellow. Loved that thing and went everywhere on it. Freedom on wheels.

Yours soon will, too -- trips to Africa next year, and lots of adventures New Zealand way in the meantime.  I'm following every detail of your build as it progresses, and can't wait to see your "vision" realized. I know it'll be a corker! Some very nice wheels are already starting to emerge, the sus-fork build is intriguing, and so are the JJ H-bars. Looking forward to completion and beyond.

Oh, what a Dream Build, Pete!  Absolutely fantastic with some top kit. I've had such good luck with Phil bottom brackets...one of mine has >35,000mi/56,000km on it and is still smooth and tight.

Hi Dan I have replaced Phil wood BB bearings a No: of times wish there had some seals to stop water getting in!
Its just one of the few BB still being made.
The Phil Wood BB i'm fitting is new spare I had for my Africa trip this year!

I looked into the Middleburn cranks for their strength -- drool, drool, that's a truly classic crank shape! -- but couldn't make the narrow tread (Q factor to those too young to speak English!) work for me even with the widest vintage Phillips pedal I bought especially for them. Pity. The Stronglights I had to settle for are rebadged Sugino Cospea made for the Japanese boutique trade, and very delicate looking (they're strong enough, being cold forged), but those Middleburns that Peter are fitting are really butch. They never stop saying, "We do the business. Forever."

I have been running Middleburn Crank's for over 7 year's, I have a pair on my "Africa Bike" (Surly X check) and a spare pair of longer 175mm crank's. (that make's 3 pair's)
Strong and made in Europe/U.K.

Well, Pete...this is just a fantastically beautiful build you're doing!

Very, very impressive and a gorgeous result. Every detail done so nicely; you can surely feel proud! Can't wait to see the completed result, but it sure looks good now!  My!  Thanks so much for sharing it with us; looking forward to more!

By any chance, can you tell us what size frame you chose, and your height? I'm thinking that for others contemplating an order, knowing what size yours is can only help in knowing what to expect.

And, of course, a final question -- have you named him/her/it yet?

So glad to hear you're recovered enough to start planning the next Africa trip -- good on ya! This new bike is the first step on the way...
