I have a friend and colleague by the same name in Halifax, wonderful man, & he rides a bike too, but he's not the SK. I asked him once if he was related and to his credit he knew about his namesake, and admitted that it was all just a coincidence.

(That sort of thing happens, y'know: My maternal grandfather's name was Robert Burns. Hearing that, people sometimes say, "The Robert Burns?" To which I say, "Well, far as I'm concerned, he was the Robert Burns.")

kelly is the most common name in Ireland or so i'm told.
he was as hard as nails SK through his youth and cycling career ,i
met him once after he won the nissan classic i think he rode the fastest time trial ever on that tour, started from his own town carric on suir  actually from the Sean Kelly Square obviously named after him 45mph from carric to clonmel animal on a bike gentleman off it.

I don't often post on the forum but this utube film is well worth watching about cycle cross in the sixties.  The cyclists in those days were men of steel both frames and character.  Regards Dermot

Just came across this Reelhouse website today with loads of adventure films including a cycling section, long and short, most have to be paid for but some free too.

A fun video showing guys trying to free a fat-tired bike from an electric fence:

I liked the comment by one of the participants: "It's only a little electric --- Zzzzappp!"  ;D

Language advisory, as could be expected.

Best,

Dan.

The British Film Institute (BFI) has a fine collection of old cycling films of various lengths and subjects.
If you are outside the UK though you will have to find a way around the geographic restrictions, VPN maybe?
