Am I too heavy for a hub?
« on: December 02, 2004, 10:37:00 PM »
In the blurb for the hub it says it doesn't like more than 150Kg force! I'm 100Kg, so with gearing/crank length will that go over the 150Kg and break it?

I was terrible at A-level Mechanics (in fact I was "ungraded") so apologies if this question is dumb!

Unlikely.

Me & the missus are quite lightweight (125Kg between us).
But we have been known to stand on the pedals of our Raven tandem, rather than change down on an incline.

I'd suggest you talk to Thorn directly. It seems from their brochures that if there is a problem it will be with using very low gears rather than with big gears and heavy loads.
