Hi, I had this concern/worry/luxury a couple of years ago. My Sherpa arrived with straight bars and Ergon grips and bar ends, which were comfy all right, and I did use all the possible hand positions. Interested in trying out the Thorn Comfort bars two years later, I found that over the first weeks of using them I stopped using the bar ends, with the bars and grips offering an all day -one position comfort! I took the ends off and have run with just the Comfort bars as is for the last two years, for tours/commutes/day runs. Being a lanky, but visually fussy begger, the comfort bars raised the bars by 5 cm, which meant I was able to lower the bars and remove some of the spacers. The bike looks ace now with only 4 spacers and the handlebar stem running parallel to the top frame bar. I was out today for a 40 mile trip with headwind on both directions
to Dunkeld and back, without even thinking about my hands/shoulders requiring a shift to another position. These Comfort Bars are another Thorn classic!
