Birdy Folding Bike
« on: June 28, 2011, 08:09:29 AM »
For sale is my Birdy City Premimum in Anthracite (grey).

The Birdy City Premium features the high end shimano Nexus Premium hub which runs with lower friction thanks to the upgraded bearings and is also 170g lighter. The Premium hub is only available in a freewheel version and does not feature the back pedal brake as fitted to the standard Birdy City.

Complete with the following extras:

- Mudguards
- Expedition Rear
- Magura hydraulic brakes (very effective braking indeed)
- Kickstand (currently not fitted)
- Brand new Brooks saddle (honey)
- Lightweight cover
- Drinks bottle on stem (which still enable the complete fold)
- Currently running 'offroad' tyres (but not used for offroad riding)

- No pedals supplied

BIRDY Bikes are the Ultimate in compact performance..... In production for 12 years and more than 10,000 sold per year around the world: Europe, Asia and USA.

Great for cycle commuting or mixed transportation from home to office. It folds quickly from riding to under my desk.

Full suspension, durable frame, lightweight construction, only 22 lbs
Components and gearing are the same as used on larger wheeled bikes

The Birdy City is the first in the range to use the new lightweight monoqoque frame with the drop dead gorgeous looks!
Perfect for around town, the commute or more recreational pursuits at the weekend. Gears are provided by the 8 speed Shimano Nexus hub gear for simple reliable shifting.

Bike was purchased from Cycle Heaven of York.

Complete with all the manuals.

See http://www.foldingbikes.co.uk/birdy.htm for more details - £1229 on their website plus then the additional accessories

The condition of the bike is excellent, no dents, scratches to the frame. There is a tiny bit of paint loss on the front forks (around 3mm square) where the forks flip around which has been touched up.

The bike can be used with ortlieb office panniers which are sufficiently tilted to enable unrestricted pedalling.

I am 6'3'' tall and the bike seat post is about on limit. Equally my wife can pedal it and she is 5'2''. A very flexible solution.

I am looking for £799 plus courier charges (if applicable). I would prefer the new owner to pick up but will courier at your risk.

Please contact me on grant.m88bsy@googlemail.com with any queries or interest.

A really stunning bike and a very recluctant sale.

Thanks,

oldpedaller

I’m looking for a Birdy and seen your ad. I know you posted it some time ago, but is it still available by any chance?

For what its worth, I owned a fully kitted-out Birdy for a time some while ago, and found it to be a remarkable little bicycle. It would have been ideal for storage in a car trunk or office desk/cubicle as a personal commuting link between car/home and work via train or bus.

The suspension worked beautifully, and -- except for a sprightly feel -- didn't ride like it had small wheels. I did wish for a more standard tire size, but they are now far more widely available than when I owned mine.

I think it would work even better now if I had kept it, thanks to some Rixen & Kaul mounts for luggage, or with attachment of a true saddle bag.

Good luck to both parties here.

Best,

Dan.
