handlebar height

I have a Thorn Nomad [2001].
I need to raise handlebar height by 1.5inches.
I can't add any more spacers.
I purchased the following stem: 'Thorn Front Loading Alloy Ahead Stem 1 1/8 Inch or 28.6 mm / 110 mm + 40 Deg'...but this hasn't added the needed height.

I thought another stem or an adjustable stem may add this height....but I'm not sure how to solve this problem.

What sort of handlebars are you using?
Can you get similar handlebars with a bigger rise?

Adjustable stems may give a bigger angle of rise, but this will not add much to the overall height gain unless you buy one with a greater length than 110mm.

Last resort - a new fork from Thorn with the original very long steerer tube intact.

I had been drawing the stem variations in Adobe Illustrator to measure the differences.
