yet another sherpa
« on: January 31, 2010, 08:27:12 PM »
Hello everybody,

I have just built sherpa for myself , well I am nearly there :)

here is a picture:

One question to you guys.
This is the highest handlebar setup I ever built in my bike.
Distance from headset to the botom line of stem is 8cm.
8 cm + 4cm (stem) this means 12cm fork tube comming out of frame.
Do you think it  it is mechanicaly ok? I have no experience with this.

Thanks and Regards from snowy Poland,

ivnn

Hi Ivnn,

It's a very nice looking Sherpa you have built. What handlebars have you used?

On my Sherpa I also have 8cm of fork tube+stem above the headset and my frame is a lot smaller than yours.
You can find photos of mine in the gallery if you want to have a look.

Hope you will have many hours of enjoyment riding your Sherpa.

Mike

That's a robust steel steerer tube.  You won't break it.
Safe riding,

Enjoy your bike, ivnn!

Echo the Supremes comment, a excellent tyre.

I had a tough time with my B17. I took me nearly 1800 km before it was comfortable and I had bruised sit-bones for 3 months! My Brooks Saddle. Peace at last...

Another one of those things that varies from person to person.

I seem to remember the break in period being about 500 miles for my B17.

I've got another one to break in on my Sabbath, so i'll see if this one is different!

All my Brook saddles have been comfy out of the box.  I find padded cycling shorts are less comfortable on a Brooks than regular synthetic boxer briefs with no padding.

Sweet bike! :) Keep those pictures coming  :-*

Have you got any special plans for the bike and yourself? Travelling the globe or cruising around the block?

So I keep my fingers crossed that I am with Vik's group and my brooks fits perfect from day no 1 (usualy I am not that lucky though....:).

Thanks pastafarian :) I will send more pictures when I have them.
I would say conquering the globe by cruising around the block ;)

I have some plans ...who does not.

when I talk a lot about my plans usualy it ends with ......nothing
so I will keep it quiet this time and one day I will take my pocket rocket for a little bit longer spin....
you will be notify then :)))))))
