Top service

For the first time in about three years my Raven has a pair of matching wheels.
The front Rigida Grizzly was built a couple of years ago locally with the rim coming from SJS.  I had to chase the LBS to get it done and was without the bike for 9 days.  The wheel has needed re truing a couple of times.
This time for the rear I thought I may as well use SJS for the lot.  Rang and paid Fri, stripped the hub Sun and posted it Mon.  Just arrived back this morning, that's Thu, so without the bike for half the time I was when I had it done locally.  The wheel is intelligently and imaginatively packed, it'd survive being thrown about by the handlers.  Only downside is the price, with my postage to them it cost £40 more than the front(Some of that might be last years price increases) If it's as good a build as the original wheels on the Raven it'll still have been worth it.

My experience of their wheel building is the equally positive.

The rear wheel on my Raven is as true as the day i bought it - 10200 miles later.

I fitted a dynohub front wheel from them 3000 miles ago and again this is superb.

I did enquire about a 700c front wheel with a dynohub fitted (Mavic Open Pro) but they now seem to be quite a bit more expensive than other places.  Quite a dilemma because SJSC wheel building is extremely good in my experience.  Perhaps an extra £30-£40 is not a lot extra to pay over the time span though.

I certainly won't entrust my Rohloff with any other wheel builder having said that!

Are you still on the same rim? That's impressive longevity.

I did the same as PH last year and had the same experience.  Excellent service with all done in less than a working week.

Yep, it is the original rim - a Rigida Andra 30.

I'm impressed with the longevity aswell.  The rim wall has plenty of wear left in it, the spoke tensions are fine and it is as true as the day it was fitted.

I have to say the whole of bike is doing exactly what i chose it for - last ages with minimal maintenance!
