Please help identify my Thorn...
« on: August 09, 2009, 07:05:58 PM »
Hello everyone. I've just bought my first Thorn. I borrowed it from a colleague last year to go over the Pyrenees, and now I have bought it. Very pleased.

Thing is, it needs some work; chainrings, chain and cassette replaced, paint redone and new saddle/bartape. Nothing end-of-the-world, but a slight pain.

Firstly, does Thorn repaint frames? If not, can I get decals anywhere and have the paint done elsewhere?

Also, is there any chance one of you knows the model name of my bike? Here are some pics;

Hello,
It looks like an early Argos built Thorn 'Club Tour'. Best to check with Thorn if you want to know absolutely. Thorn Decals can be obtained from a suitable bike resprayer when you have a frame resprayed.
John.

Yup, John is probably correct, it's a model i think we used to call world tour, or maybe tour, nearest current model club tour.

Argos & Mercian do good paint-jobs/rennovations.

Mercian did mine but I've seen some good examples from Argos.
