Koga Multigrip - compatible with Rohloff shifter?
« on: October 31, 2008, 12:55:54 AM »
I noticed on the website of Mark Beaumont (the guy who broke the round the world cycling record) that he had a Rohloff; that he used butterfly bars (I think Koga Multigrip) - and that his shifter seemed to be fixed to the bars and hence compatible with them.

Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

And does anyone have any experience with this sort of set-up?

Many thanks

Andy

Whatever bars you use, the standard Rohloff shifter will not go round a bend. It will only slide on and fix to the straight end sections.

I have seen a picture of a 'prototype rapidfire' Rohloff thumb shifter with 2 levers which had a narrow mounting section like a brake lever and looked as though it would go round a bend...

A late reply, buta rely nonetheless.

Butterfly bars tend to have a straight "Open" section.

Most items will fit simply on to these as they would do with normal handlebars. The only problem is that with these bars this section is often at the same level or position as the stem, so cable runs can be dificult
