Tales of Thorns
« on: May 28, 2025, 05:24:17 PM »
Bit like the proverbial Clapham Omnibus: None appears for ages then three all together.
1. Chap near Beeston Castle passes me on his Moulton. We stop to shoot the breeze and it turns out he also has a Thorn Nomad but without the Rohloff; had one of those Alfine hubs, swopped by the previous owner. I suggested if he wanted to sell he might get some interest here. Great bloke to talk bikes and tours with.
2. Second guy was parked up outside a supermarket and it was the Brooks B17 initially caught my eye. His bike is an Audax ( think he said MK3) and he'd had a great time doing the JOGLE on it. ( Thats John O' Groats to Land's End, a well known UK long distance challenge/ride).
3. Last guy was on  the same campsite as me. He had a Nomad MK2 that was currently sat in the cellar as he now had a little 'bundle of joy' to love. He'd previous spent seven months doing the The Carretera Austral.
I must admit, as the weather was turning, to being quite envious of his camper van (RV) and the joys of dry.

Be careful out there folks, we are not alone and are likely to be joined by Anto in the near future.  :)
