Newbie to Thorn cyclosportif
« on: August 25, 2023, 09:14:04 pm »
Hi,
Thought I'd just introduce myself.
I bought a second hand cyclosportif 853 a week ago, quick recommission and  now had a few rides.  I think its from the early to mid 2000s.
Really nice ride, great 3x10 shimano ultegra and 105 brakes i beleive.
Its the red to gold fade with orange inside the chainstay. A really good looking bike.
Strong likelihood i'll be using it on the New Forest 100 in September.
I live near Colchester, if anyone is local, keep an eye out for me ;D
No doubt I'll be asking lots of questions

All the best

Paul

Welcome.
Fantastic looking bikes, but a bit of an outsider in the Thorn ranges, that's the closest to an out and out road bike they've ever produced and I don't think it was in production for long.
I don't think any of the regular posters have one, I'm sure we'd welcome your questions, but if you were hoping for some shared experience, I'm afraid you might be disappointed.  Do let us know about the bike though, it's a model I lusted after, though I doubt it would have suited the riding I do.

Congratulations on the Cyclosportif.

Been enjoying mine for the last decade, just about my favourite Thorn and still my go to for sheer fun on tarmac.
