Giro del Tirreno, Part 3 - Sardinia
« on: October 15, 2022, 02:15:39 pm »
After many days of delightful weather in Sicily, Sardegna (as the Italian name is) started really nice, then hammered us with some bouts of fearsome winds on each coast, rain, fog, and really unseasonably cold conditions for several days. The NW winds became ferocious, but at least we did not have roads blocked by metres of snow as happened at the Giro d'Italia at the same time. We enjoyed in particular the SE coast, the coast road to Alghero (despite the wind), Alghero itself, as well as Castelsardo and the north coast ride to Santa Maria Gallura. WE had a shortened time on Sardegna as we had to press on to visit other sights on Corsica, as well as visit some friends in Genoa, Tuscany, and visit my grandpa's village on Isola d'Elba.
