Comments (why did you need to lube): I had to remove wheel to replace worn tyre. Chain had a few rusty spots although mostly clean still despite riding in rain/snow through the winter. So chain glider helped on that front for sure but it was no longer whisper quiet either. As wheel was off I decided to oil. Immediate improvement reducing that slight chain noise.
Continuing with same chain and Chainglider and oil if needed for longevity testing.
Restart 17,530km on bike computer after oiling chain mentioned above. Still easy lower maintenance than exposed chain as I didn’t need to clean it except for a quick wipe of a small amount of grime after weeks and weeks of riding.

I had to adjust sliders (no eccentric on my bike) for chain stretch and saw a couple of rust spots on chain at around 19,000km. As glider was off, decided to lightly oil. I overtightened one of the aluminium sliders with steel bolt and pulled out the thread (oops!) so after riding carefully holding on 3 of 4 bolts, fitted replacement slider at around 20,000km. With glider off again, chain no longer rust marked, but I wiped off oil from previous and lightly applied anew just because the opportunity presented.
