Thorn Adventure Touring with Sturmey Archer
« on: December 07, 2021, 12:08:05 PM »
I spotted an ad on Ebay for a frame listed as Thorn Adventure Touring made for Sturmey Archer and wondered if anyone knew what model that might have been? There are no decals on the frame but the seller gives the full spec and it has horizontal dropouts and no cable guides so possibly also a single speed, it is too big for me so no plans to bid but I am just curious.
I would post a link but am not sure of the rules regarding possible promoting of something for sale.

Hi Mark!

Very thoughtful of you to present the topic as you did, making life easy for Admin. :)

Hmm. Let's move it to the Bikes For Sale board (done!) as there is a lot of discussion there of bikes for sale on eBay.

It surely sounds intriguing and I think will generate some interest once it can be seen.

Best,

Dan.

This made me very curious so I did a quick search.

Did Thorn make a lugged frame bike with a threaded fork steerer?

Rear D-O is 120 mm. So only for a 3 speed. It only has single mounts too. Pfffft
Why would they bother when there's hundreds of old Dutch bikes around?

Nice bike Bill C. If that's the original paint, then it's amazing. Don't leave any rust inside the ST and fork though.

If anyone is interested I have received notification that this frame has dropped in price to £200 for a few hours.
