Some time ago Dan recommended the Adventure Cycle Touring Handbook. It is now it its third edition.

I recently came across another wonderfully produced guide by Joshua Cunningham. It has less practical information but combines that with his tour from Scotland to Hong Kong. The photographs alone make the book worth buying. It really fired my enthusiasm for setting off on another tour!
