Wayfarer's bench
« on: February 11, 2018, 11:48:29 PM »
Took the Mercury to rest awhile at Wayfarer's bench in Meriden (The centre of England) on a loop from Birmingham down to Stratford and back to Derby

Wayfarer's bench by Paul, on Flickr

The plaque reads:

To the memory of
Wayfarer (WM Robinson)
Who died 17th September 1956
His devotion to the pastime of cycling
Inspired many to enjoy the countryside
and the open road
Erected on behalf of all cyclists by
The Cyclists’ Touring Club

Certainly is, the proportions work really well on the bigger frame sizes.

Nicely done, Paul.

You may have mentioned this in an earlier post, but what ring/sprocket ratio do you have on your Mercury?

43/17 which with 35mm tyres gives a range of 19" - 101"  and more importantly a 68" direct gear which is spot on for most of my riding, though with last weeks wind a 40" gear would have been more appropriate.

Thanks, Paul.  Glad it works so well for you (despite the headwinds).

Cheers,  John
