After a long time of indecision I have finally decided to put my Mercury up for sale.

A stunning bike.  Well maintained and looked after.

Ebay link here ,

I have 2 other Thorns and this one is being sold to fund another bike project.

I just hope I am doing the right thing!

Any questions please let me know.

What a beautiful bike.
Very very tempting but no room in my shed.
And no room in my garden for another shed.
And Mrs. Matt won't let them in the house!
Good luck with your sale.

V hard to say as it depends on what someone would want to pay and there will be a relatively small market.  I wouldn't want to deprive anyone of a bargain....

As geocycle says it depends on what people are prepared to pay and also if the choices you made coincide with what they'd have made themselves.
For example - you may have seen the red hubs as a plus where someone else might see them as a minus...
The frames are mouthwateringly expensive, I know having just bought one it bought a tear to my wallet, but OTOH Thorn are selling off some old stock full bikes for less than two grand (Not as expensively specced as yours, but as said the +/- of that depends on the individual)

Good luck with the sale, I'm always a little surprised when people sell Rohloffs, I chop and change quite often but it didn't take long to see how well the Rohloff suited me and it's mine for life, if I live into doddery old age it'll be there on my elec shopper bike.
If you find a buyer who would have made all the choices you have, then it'll be a real bargain for them, but I have doubts you'll get a quick sale at that price.

If you alternate hanging the bikes by the front/rear wheel, it stores them nicely in less space and goes far toward expanding bike:shed capacity.

That's a beautiful bike. If I was looking for a second bike, that is what I would want. I hope you find a buyer that will give it a good home.

Matt, you say that you have no room in your shed. If you buy the bike, I am happy to store it for you in my shed (as a personal favour to you). Whenever you visit Vancouver, it will be waiting here for you to ride.

Thanks Dave.
Funny you should mention that idea.
I'm about to start my 4/5 week tour of Ethiopia and naturally planning my next trip already.
And a trans Canada route appeals to me for 2019/20.
Is Vancouver still at one end?

But new frame (second hand) arrives on Monday, more adventures to be had, if its as good as this bike I will be happy.

I don't want to hijack this tread, so I'll keep my response short.

Yes, Vancouver is a logical starting/ending point for riding across Canada. However, it is a big country! The entire Trans-Canada  highway (Victoria, BC to St John's, Newfoundland) is 7,821 km (4,860 miles) long. At 100 km per day, that would be 78 riding days.

I think it's better to pick a region of the country, and tour there. Ideas are the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick), Quebec, Ontario (ask John Saxby on this forum -- he is in Ottawa), or BC (my favourite). My  dream ride is to do the Kettle Valley Railway trail though BC. The KVR was opened in 1916 and closed in the 1950s, and much of it has been turned into a recreational gravel trail. It is through some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in the world, especially the Coquihalla Canyon (200km east of Vancouver) and the Myra Canyon (near Kelowna, 400km east of Vancouver). The Coquihalla gets 40+ feet of snow each winter.

I've talked to people about the road along the north shore of Lake Superior. It's amazing but it looks like a true bottleneck for traveling across Canada. From what I have heard, that road is not fun bicycling at all!

One of my fantasy rides is up north in the western provinces...  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Woods_and_Water_Route
