RST just arrived
« on: June 09, 2007, 09:55:31 AM »
well the man knocked on the door at 8.30am with a big box.

First impressions - much, much lighter than I was expecting - and this is the largest size.

Will spend the weekend twiddling with bars/stem etc and then post a picture.

I had a Specialzed Crossroads Elite (Alu frame) which was much heavier.  I got SJS to eBay it - very painless and got a very good deal - just in case anyone was wondering about that route.

Hi Ians,

I went out this morning and rode 41 hilly miles, I set off at 6.30am and was back at 9.30 am after 10 mins banana stop [:D] avoiding too much sun and traffic. Now others have said this, that the RST is deceptive. It doesn't seem as quick or as light as my audax bike but the time I took this morning suggests it is. Strange because when I'm in 7th, which is still noisy, it seems slow & agricultural. Yet for the terrain and for me that was a decent time and I wasn't trying  to put in a fast time. I'm abit flumoxed as to why.

Enjoy your RST and let us know what you think and of course we all like photos[:)]

thanks folks.

Won't post a picture just yet - don't want to upset the headset police.

Final spec;  Mavic rims, carbon seatpost, brooks titanium saddle (present from Mrs), thorn comfort bars, ergon grips.

Took it out for a 10 miler yesterday just to check it over.  Ergon grips and brooks saddle were a great success - v. comfortable.  The bike is very swift - I had no idea it would move so fast - great acceleration.   Passed 3 guys on MTBs - they looked really baffled - couldn't make out quite what it was. LOL.

Will now play around with stem/spacers etc.
