Old Galaxy Seat pin size?
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:08:04 PM »
While riding to work yesterday on my old Dawes Galaxy, the seat pin sheared off just below the saddle. After struggling to removing what was left of the seat pin I tried to measure it with calipers, it is so battered that it's hard to get an accurate measurement ... it's around 26mm .. or 26.2mm. The bike is an old 10 speed with 27" wheels. I have no idea how old it is but it looks pretty ancient. Does anyone know the proper seat pin diameter for this bike? Thorn seem to do them in 0.2mm steps and I want to order the right one - I suspect the one fitted may have been slightly too large - hence the battering and difficulty removing.

Thanks in advance for any help

Ian.

I think my old Galaxy (now scrapped)was 27.2. Can you get hold of a vernier gauge in order to measure your frame ,or try with some borrowed seat pins.Maybe your LBS would measure and supply
