Oil Change
« on: August 04, 2016, 07:02:56 PM »
So no longer a Rohloff virgin, finally completed my first oil change without any real difficulty.
Was able to easily draw the 15ml of oil into the syringe and transfer to the hub. However it was less easy to draw the 25ml of air at the end, as there with no oil in the syringe it was difficult to draw out the correct amount accurately. So silly question how critical is this step, what is the result on the internal pressure of too much or too little air being drawn out, does this affect oil leakage?

Its mainly to stop the hub spitting at you when you unscrew the oil tube. If you only insert 15ml of oil you only need to remove 15ml of air to equalize.

Dave.

Thanks for the response and putting mind at rest. I felt it better to ask the silly question than be sorry later. Once again thanks.
