Thorn Nomad Mk2 X-Series X590M (black, only 1500 miles) + lots of extras

I'm selling my Thorn Nomad X-Series 590M (suitable for people between 5' 8.5" to 6' 2").

I've got too many bikes (!!), so it's only done around 1,500 miles, mostly on road.

I'm considering breaking it up and selling the parts separately on eBay, but before I do that I wanted to check whether anybody on the forum would want it for a great price, to save me the hassle. It's a rare (and wonderful) bike, and breaking it up would seem a shame.

Here are the highlights:

- Frame and paint in perfect condition (no chips or marks)
- Thorn's Reynolds forks (fitted)
- Magura Menja 2011 Suspension Fork 100 mm Travel (never used!)
- Black Rohloff (with titanium skewer), Ex box + 17 tooth sprocket
- Black SON 28 dynohub, with piggy back connectors (for USB charging)
- Schmidt Edelux headlight
- Andra 30 rims (black)
- Shimano XTR M970 V brakes (among the best V brakes ever made – they're amazing)
- Thorn low loader front rack + Thorn rear rack
- Thorn flat track bars with Ergon grips + SJS Ergo Control bar ends
- Thorn 175mm cranks, with 40 tooth chainring
- Thorn (T shaped) accessory bar
- SKS 55mm mudguards (black)
- Wireless Cateye computer
- 6 spare spokes + all original paperwork

The whole package cost me £3500.

Some lucky person can have the lot for £2000, including shipping to the UK (if you're abroad we can discuss it).

It's currently fitted with 2" Marathon Supremes, that have only done about 300 miles. I'll also throw in £120 worth of (barely worn) tyres:

- 2 x 2.25" Schwalbe Extreme (great for off-road adventure touring, like new)
- 2 x 2.1" WTB Nano (a lot of fun in the dirt, like new)
- 2 x 1.75" Panaracer Pasela (great for lightly loaded road riding, light wear at around 1,000 miles)

I'll be keeping my clipless pedals, but can throw in a pair with toe clips if you need some.

I spent the afternoon giving it a good clean, and then took a load of close up photos.

First up, I thought anybody interested might like to know that the wheels are still true. I made a couple of videos. The first is the front wheel, the second the rear.

Okay, here we go.

I took these just after I'd given it a good clean, but the camera and sunlight are still showing up a few bits of dirt that I didn't get with my cloth.

Because I had it in my bike stand (and at one point flipped it upside down to clean and photograph underneath) I've had a very good look at every square inch, and will point out the marks that I've noticed (as distinct from bits of dirt that I failed to spot before I took the pictures).

If you're curious about whether a particular mark I don't mention is a bit of muck or paint damage, describe where they are (and which photo they're in – e.g. P1150540) and I'll happily investigate and take a close up of it for you. But if I haven't mentioned it, it's most likely a bit of dirt showing up in the sunlight.

There's only one photo of the entire bike. All the rest are close ups of various parts of the bike. If I've missed a bit you'd like to see, let me know.

Marks in these first two are just dirt. It's amazing what the camera sees close up that my eyes missed – it looked really clean to me!

Note the nicks in the quick release lever in this next one. There's also a bit of paint off the bottom left hand corner of the Ex box (which isn't fully visible from this angle, but it's cosmetic).

As they usually do, my panniers have taken the paint off the racks where the hooks have rubbed. This photo shows it for the front rack. The rear rack doesn't feature in these pictures because it's not on the bike at the moment, but it's included, and I can fit it for you if you like before I ship it. I can photograph it too, but it's in very similar condition to the front rack.

My shoes can touch the cranks as I'm pedalling, so the "Thorn" logo in this next photo is a bit worn and the aluminium is lightly scuffed (as is the other crank).

For P1150556 I turned the bike upside down in my work stand. I clean the bike every time I ride it, but don't always invert it to do so. I hadn't previously noticed the very light hairline scratches you can see next to the "N" of "THORN" in this next photo. There aren't many of them – the rest of the underside of the down tube and bottom bracket look great.

I also discovered a paint chip on the chain stay, near the axle. To get an idea of the scale, the two slightly out of focus black lines to the left of it are gear cables. It's towards the rear end of the stay (the bike's inverted, and that's the Rohloff hub in the bottom left of the photo).

A dab of nail varnish should seal that up nicely.

I've just realised I haven't taken any close ups of the cockpit. Let me know if you'd like pictures, but it's fairly standard (flat track bars with Ergon grips and nice rubber bar ends, with Shimano XT levers).

Fabulous stuff! My only suggestion is that you might wish to give a broad indication of your location. Thorn enthusiasts are an intrepid bunch and will travel to Mordor and beyond for the right bike!
