some dodgy bidding going on on that auction,
if i was Thorn i'd be bitching to Ebay about the buyer that retracted their bid, it cost Thorn dear, no point in bidding when you know the oppositions price is £320
it's not like it's the first time he has bailed on an auction, quick look at his bidding history shows 86 bid retractions in 6 months  >:(
wouldn't suprise me if it was deliberate to get the winning bidder a unbeatable price, i nearly took it up to £310 just to pi55 the winner off, wish i had now
 http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidderProfile&mode=1&item=311566599213&aid=d***p&eu=otFiMZSGEgWmkOYfJuVLjhphmsrBJGWd&bidtid=-1&view=NONE&ssPageName=PageBidderProfileViewBids_None_ViewLink

just noticed in last 30 days he has bid on 40 items and retracted on 11 that's over 25% of his bid's retracted

I wondered how that one went. I'm still wondering.

it's called bid shielding, i didn't know about it till this auction, but googled dodgy bidding and it was described exactly how this auction played out, it's on the ebay forums

there's some crafty bastiges out there, still i didn't need another bike, why would i of wanted a Nomad in my size, when i can keep riding the Marin >:(

Wouldn't you have risked ending up having to buy yourself, though, if the dodgy bidders decided to drop out?

yup but it wasn't that much more than i was prepared to bid, i was looking at around £285 + post, strip it sell anything i could, strip the Marin and rebuild the Nomad with the Marin parts, then sell the Marin frame,
the Marin was rebuilt a couple of years ago, Thorn wheelset, dura ace 9 thumbies, and all nos mix of xt,deore, slx, pukka ride looks ok but i'd sooner of had another Thorn
i reckon at the end i'd of coughed £150ish to upgrade a well specced/kitted Marin with a cheap frame into a very nice Nomad that was tatty enough to not worry about if i locked it up in town and shopped

still no point in crying over scammed frames, tbh i nearly bought the Thorn ventura listed a week or two back, dirt cheap but 700c and it being up North put me off http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thorn-hybrid-racing-tour-bicycle-/162006818237?hash=item25b85bddbd%3Ag%3A3DEAAOSwoBtW5uJg&nma=true&si=QT66T7te21qVRcyQCixuhatNkPY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

the Marin's days are numbered  ;)

couldn't find out much about the ventura apart from this, but i didn't really try http://www.sandsmachine.com/bp_sjs.htm

well he just clocked up another bid retraction now standing at 87
i feel sorry for all the other bike sellers as he seem's to be bidding on them mainly, also he has a few multiple bids just like the nibbler that took the price to £340 on this auction before he bailed,
he's probably got multiple ebay accounts, and at a guess he breaks bikes for a living, best keep my eye out for a nomad frame in 58 over the coming weeks
