Looking at the head badge on that Nomad I would have guessed it to be one of the earlier Reynolds 531 veriety not the 725

Andy
It's got a 725 sticker on the seat tube though.

Any Sterlings likely to appear Dave, especially for a 5ft 7 incher with a 30 inch inleg?

Thanks

Andy

has it (the Nomad) been resprayed/ powder coated lately ?
as the red O in the  Thorn dt sticker  looks to be a bit out of place, thought that came in in later models?, not being pernickety , it's just that seeing it made me wonder if the down tube stickers were available to buy, for a confirmed Thorn sale/bike? bought a couple in bare metal awhile back and would like the proper decals if still available

There's a 725 transfer on the seat tube, though?

It is a 725 frame for sure as its 27.2mm post, all the 531 frames were 27.0mm and had wreath of Thorn headbadges.

I wonder if there is an L.A. stamped on it?

Yes as with most the Nomads they were part constructed by LA for us in the UK.

Sadly not, Sterling's were only ever here in the days of computerized stock control so have all been accounted for and sold :-(

Hello Andy - you are looking for a Sterling??

Can't help you there, but I have a Ripio frame / fork (sus and Mt Tura) that I am likely to be selling in the spring - I don't think my sons, who I was keeping it for, will want it.

Good condition, suited me (5'9" tall) very well until I swapped components over to a Sherpa build.  Some components available, including cranks, levers and so on.

A derailleur frame, of course, I think the Sterling was Rohloff specific.

Let me know if you want more details.

Lewis

Lewis, I am looking for a whole bike really.  The only spares that I have is a dynohubbed wheel.  Rohloff would be preferable too.  Thanks a lot for the heads-up though.

Hi Lewis

I'll be interested in the ripio frame / sus forks, if you do sell them.

Thanks

Re he head badges I have two 531 Nomads both with the same headtube badge as the green one you are selling as 725 so it is either a 531 or that headtube badge was used on both models. My understanding is that the 725 ones are have the wreath of thorns and the 531 have the Thorn Nomad cross on them. Any more info would be appreciated

I love it how Thorn Forum Members always ask questions! But at the same time doubt the provenance of Thorn built cycles
even those offered by the manufacturer !!

Everyone is able to make mistakes - even Thorn. If you see something you think is wrong and do not question it then I think you would be daft

I owned a new Nomad in 531 tubing.
The headbadge was stainless steel.

So that would seem to confirm that the 531 was available with either of the two headbadges
