SJS: EXXP with provenance on the way

Now this looks interesting  :) no details or photos yet.

I'm guessing it might be a smaller frame after reading the details but I could well be wrong.

Could you do a full spec for it please?
Also, would this be covered by any sort of warranty?

Looks a real beauty but I'm not sure if you'd get any warranty with it given that it is second hand and of a certain age; that said perhaps its provenance and source is enough of a warranty,  certainly would be for me. Take a look. wrap it with tinsel, ho! ho! ho! and away you go!

The eXXp is designed for Adventure Touring holidays (long distances, with heavy loads over severe terrain).

The eXXp is suspension specific, i.e. it is designed for a suspension fork (Magura Odur) with 100mm travel.

It has the cable runs for an EX hub, reinforcing tubular gussets at the back, 6mm carrier bosses and, whilst at present there are no discs available (which we would recommend) for Adventure Touring, we have “future proofed” the frame by providing ISO disc mounts and carefully considering the potential for neat routing of a hydraulic line... we have also chosen to fit V brake bosses with removable studs, should a disc be used instead.

An additional, extra-long, rigid, twin plate crown fork (to compensate for the suspension specific geometry) can be supplied to allow the eXXp to be suitable for economical day to day use or for a really epic journey, when servicing suspension would be impractical. Compared to the Rohloff eXp, the eXXp has slightly longer chainstays, because with a suspension fork, most of the weight has to be carried on the back of the bike and bigger bags need longer chainstays to help keep the weight within the bike’s wheelbase.

The eXXp is both huge and ruggedly good looking... like a Clydesdale... our bikes (Andy and Fiona’s) are called “Bertha” and “Hector.” These magnificent beasts have just returned from a long holiday in Patagonia, where they performed faultlessly and both flattered and cosseted their owners, by covering the extremely demanding terrain in impeccable style, whilst carrying full camping kit
and up to 10 days shopping!

The eXXp is, as you might expect, the most expensive of our solo bikes. It is available in just 10 sizes... we can’t do “small” with suspension forks!

We are working on a full description, we are a bit busy at present and new orders must take priority, however I hope to complete it this week, it's possible if you know your bike kit to zoom in and see what most of it is. It's in great mechanical condition and only has a few paint chips, I think its circa 2005-6.

the bike is a handbuilt frame (by a current top frame builder) with the best tubes for the job of expedition touring under load.
the equipment is top notch and long lasting.

I paid the best part of £4k in 2006 for an equivalent Rohloff eXp S&S bike.
I now ride an eXp R which I hope will be a family heirloom when I die.

I think this bike will fit perfectly for me but it's a shame the fork has already cut ..

I like too much the color ..

How much do you think it cost new ?

The eXXp offered for sale is a high-spec model.

The Rohloff eXXp frameset with Magura Odur 100mm fork went for £1580. With twin-plate crowned rigid fork,  £1670.

Complete bike with standard component options: With Magura Odur fork £2899. With twin-plate crowned rigid fork, £2989.

At the time, there were a number of options unavailable today, including carbon-fiber mudguards at  £70 to £120 extra at time of build. I would have very much liked a pair of those...or rather, two rears, one to be adapted to the front.

I will be interested, but never for this price   ::) i'm too poor or not rich enought   :-\

However, it has 10 years old, there isn't rack, no cage, no pedal, old tyres, so minimum 50% discount, and it's not a joke   ;D

I agree with Julio - too expensive given the age of the bike. I appreciate that they don't make them like that any more but I'd rather get a new Nomad instead.

I have the EXP and it is a stunning bike.  Mine was about £2,200 from someone selling on eBay, however it did come with a full set of quality racks, carbon fibre mudguards and bottle holders.  The condition was stunning.  I would expect the advertised one to cost more and come with less as SJS have overheads.  I wouldn't sell mine, despite it weighing 20kg before I put the luggage on it.  The only downside to mine is that it doesn't have S+S couplings.  If the one here had I would have bought it.

The Nomads are nice, but this one is in a different class.
