SJS Cycles now stocks Dryve Weather-Protection System
« on: November 18, 2015, 09:32:27 AM »
Hi All!

Just in time for winter...

Thorn's sister company, St. John's Street Cycles, is carrying the Swiss-made Dryve bicycle weather protection system. It is basically a canopy for a bicycle and allows crosswinds to blow through from the sides so stability is not compromised, while protecting from direct rainfall from ahead and above.

The Dryve system was discussed here briefly several years ago while it was under development. There are several similar designs on the market, but this one dis/assembles fairly quickly and converts to a saddle cover while parked.

Here is the manufacturer's site:

And SJS Cycles' sales page:

Any takers?

I would still need rain clothing to keep my legs and feet dry, and it doesn't seem readily compatible with my preferred drop handlebars.

Best,

Dan.

Should be compulsory for the pros....!  Great to see at least some products in SJS that I don't have to save up for ;D.

Just what I was waiting for to protect bouffant hair. But I'm not so sure I want anthracite (grey! how dull!) with my pink. I think I'll wait for the pink-pink two-tone.

Man up, Il Padrone, and eat your brussels sprouts!

Glad to see it has an 'unbreakable window'. Presumably this is for protection from the rocks that youths will feel compelled to hurl.  ;)

I feel some sort of comment is called for, but (you'll be pleased to know) words fail me.

I don't understand how this rain cover would protect you. As long as you are stopped, it might give protection, but as soon as you start to ride, wouldn't the wind blow the rain around the cover? It would be like driving a car in the rain with the window down (and maybe the doors off). If someone has experience in using it, I'd like to hear how it works.

Somehow I don't think this product is aimed at the denizens of this den! Rather those who tootle around the city on those small-wheeled bikes; for which I gather there is a growing fan base in Urbania!
I've been reading up on the so called Phoenix Greenways here in the UK. They are series of interconnected former mining railway trails around the East Midlands. http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/countryside/access/greenways/phoenix_greenways/

I can only imagine the ghostly laughing and chortling from Mineworkers  past if they saw one of these Dryve systems riding past their former pitheads.

If I wanted top-level weather-protection I'd go for one of these ;) (my brother already has something similar and loves it).

My brother's is the blue one.
