South West Coast to Coast Tour
« on: May 16, 2015, 01:38:15 PM »
I'm about to set off on a short  South West England Tour starting with the Air Ambulance charity ride tomorrow. First day is Watchet on the North Somerset Coast to West Bay on the Dorset Coast. Over the next 5 days I will cycle the south Devon coast and then turn North across the edge of Dartmoor and follow the Tarka trail up to Ilfracombe. Then east along the North Devon and Somerset coast and finally south back home to Taunton.
I'll post a report when I get back on Thursday.
Here's my Raven all dressed up and ready to go..........
I should add that I'm camping hence the luggage :-)

Great photo and and an  interesting mix of panniers too. It sounds like you'll have a lot of fun. Lets hope these westerly winds abate a tad for you.

Very neat and tidy load, Colin; the bike looks wonderful in its red-and-black livery.

All best wishes for a nice and pleasant tour,

Dan.

You're right, Jags, I shouldn't mention the hills. They were there last year, who knows about this year? Is anything permanent? This could deviate way off subject . . .

Looking forward to hearing news . . .

Sorry to hear that, jags - we've had some pretty fine weather for a while in South Yorkshire, so I've been Ripio-ing around a bit - which makes me realise how unfit I am.

Big event next weekend, I am in the support team for a group of riders cycling from London to Paris in aid of Phase Worldwide.  I can mend punctures / swap tubes, sort out sticky brakes, but I have never mended a chain!!  Not for the last 40+ years anyway . . . .  I reckon a decent chain properly assembled is unlikely to break . . . but I'm spending an hour or so at my trusted LBS, who has offered to talk me through things, has got some old bits of chain to practice on, and lend me links etc on a sale or return basis.  I must check how to sort out a wheel that goes out of true - again, not done for a while.  A decent LBS is worth a lot.

All this is a long way from Frog Prince and his tour, good luck!
