Anto,

Tiagra is emerging as a real high quality option at a good price point. Might be worth considering.

Given your requirements, I think it is worthy of consideration as a high value goupset.

All the best,

Dan.

Cheers Dan i can't find the 9 speed deore mechs shimano must have stopped making them.
i had Tiagra 9 speed sti on the sherpa  ,not as good as  ultegra or dura ace but yeah still worked fine.
i was going to go with compact chainset 50 x 34 and 32 on the rear sure a fella would climb a wall with that set up. ;)

Hi Anto great to have you back.
I knew it wouldn't be long before you started hankering after a touring bike, I reckon a Club Tour would be a great bike for the type of touring you're thinking about.
I've been in the garage today as it's been raining most of the day, I've been tinkering with the Raven Tour I bought last September, I'm planning to do a bit of touring this summer, only local stuff just to whet the appetite for something bigger in the future. I'm using the Audax for day rides, preferably when the weather is decent. My aim this year is to do my first 100 miler.

i done a 120 miler couple years back  actually i was to camp overnight at the halfway point but i chickened out so i kept on cycling , mind you i was pretty knackered by the time i got home  ;D ;D
i enjoyed every turn of the pedals on me own sun shining  no wind plenty of feckin hills tho, but sure if there no hills life would be dull .

yeah i  wil do me best to get another tourer use the dolan for group riding, im supposed to be going out in the morning but the back is sore so i'll go walking instead.

cheers

Hi Anto,

Glad to hear you're on the mend again, bet it was driving you crazy been stuck indoors with all the nice weather we've been having lately.

I've been getting the Raven Tour to my liking lately, just had a delivery yesterday from SJS so hopefully finish it off over the weekend, it's looking great and I plan to go on my maiden tour on it in September although only around Wales but it'll get my into bike touring I hope.

I've not made any changes to the Audax, to be honest the only thing I will change for the summer is a slightly shorter stem. I want to use it for a while to see what, if any changes I want to make.

I've been doing quite a bit of walking lately, my aim is to do the 15 Welsh Peaks above 3000ft this year, I've done 6 so far and I'm walking Offas Dyke in June/July so a busy year.

I've not forgot your DVD, I got some discs from Home Bargains, just need to work out how to copy them now. ::)

I tried to put some photos of my RST on forum last year but I can't manage the thing, bah.

Be great if you could fund a Club Tour somehow, Ireland looks a great place to go touring, weather permitting.

Regards,
Neil
