Thanks Jags and yep; Lands End to John o'Groats next May. Another Coast to Coast, poss Walney Island to Whitby. Maybe the Pennine Bridleway? A few short overnights to begin with; local here in the Peak District.

Life is good when you're retired!

Well done Geoff, glad the bike has reached its new home safely. It looks just like mine's twin!!  I love the dynamo hub and light though and am very jealous. I could not stretch to any more money at the time so that will have to wait for a while now.

You are right in your title though, you are going to love this bike. I know I love mine. By the way I have been trying to come up with a name for my bike as you should name them, to begin with it was Rosie - down to the colour, but I felt that it was a rugged sort of bike and should have a male name. Then chatting to one of my friends on my trip and I was talking about the bike and how great it was and she said 'you have got a great friend in that bike' and suddenly the name 'Woody' sprang to mind as in Toy Story - you got a friend in me.

They do have the stability of a mountain bike, but still have a good turn of speed too. I don't regret buying mine at all, though I do still eye up the Audax occasionally as a faster bike for day rides. The Sherpa is the one I would always take on tour though.

Enjoy.

Hi Geoff,

Always nice to see another thorn owner enjoying their new acquisition . A stunner, and as Jackie says it  looks very much like her Sherpa, also good that you have been in contact with her as she is certainly now experienced  in the Jogle ride. Enjoy and best wishes on your travels.

Regards Alfie

Thanks Jackie. The lamp seems really good. Went out in the dark just to try it; no streetlights a short distance from here. It's superb. Have to try charging something next.

Life is good when you're retired!

When retired your life looks great! Mine on the other hand is full of serious Heart problems..but Thorn and Condor bikes still have a place. Just not much riding.
Regarding your written Blog you mention food for Camping. Indeed Pasta is good and dehydrated good but expensive and tiny portioned. Regarding eggs I can report that not only do they survive packed in polythene bags rolled into sleeping bags/clothes and such. They are very easy to scramble which I guess is the bumpy roads assisting?
Love machine but, do you really require such a high steerer for the bars?
Regards,
John

Thanks John.
The high steerer is just how the bike was built and appears to fit perfectly; function over form eh.
You have my sympathy with your heart problems. I hope that moderate exercise helps you.
All the best.
