Which pads do you recommend beside the Swissstop Blue? Which ones are compatible with this system?

I got the Koolstop pads for my new Andra CSS rim. Seem pretty good so far, no significant squealing noise (just a bit when braking very hard), haven't tried them in the wet yet though. I have managed to lock up the rear wheel a couple of times with sudden hard braking though.

Thanks. Any others? I am trying to buy them locally, I don't want to pay more for the delivery than for the item itself... so the longer the list, better are my chances to find them.

I think Koolstop and Swissstop are the only two brands available. I believe you can use any normal pads too but they will just wear down very quickly, but will get you by in an emergency, although given how long the recommended pads last I'm not sure what that emergency would be.

I am making an order on http://www.bike-discount.de/ to Greece, with some other stuff. But I don't find any pads for CSS rims... So if there is anything there I will have to find them locally...

I use Swiss stop blues and find them ok.  I did experiment for a few hundred miles with standard blocks. They worked ok but left a black residue on the rim.  Switching back to the harder Swiss stops cleaned the rims again. So, if you need to use some blocks temporarily I don't think you'll do much harm, even if the blocks wear quickly.

What about the green Swiss stop?

Compatible with Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105 & SRAM (incl. clamping screws)?

Or compatible with Shimano 10, SRAM road, TRP road, Bontrager Speed Limit, The Hive?

You need to buy from another supplier.

Swisstop Blue from SJS - more expensive, but with the pad life the cost disappears (mine are now up to 21,000 kms and will soon need replacing, but not yet).

Koolstop for carbide - cheaper, I have some to use when the Swisstops wear right out.

What I don't understand is that these brake pads don't even appear in the manufacturer websites.

Where are they?

According to koolstop.eu http://www.koolstop.eu/en/rim-brakes/compounds.html All the ones with the R are for CSS rims, and there is not one that is only for it. It is all pretty confusing. http://www.koolstop.eu/index.php?id=63&L=1

Don't know. Those web-sites look really crazy. Seem to be aimed mainly at mass-market road racer bikes.

What I do know is they are made; are available from SJS. Go there.

You should be able to lock up a rear wheel with almost any rim/pad combination!

We have the Andra/blue pads on our tandem and they work very well in the dry but in the wet they take a longer application just as with any rim brakes.
Luckily we are living in a dry country!

Well I've never had it happen before on a sealed road surface,  with a full load of camping luggage.

If the SwissTop Blue is good for both ceramic and CSS rims, but KoolStop makes different pads for ceramic and for CSS, I wonder what would happen if I use KoolStop ceramic pads on my CSS rims.
