Rohloff in dusty conditions
« on: May 11, 2006, 01:40:17 PM »
My speedhub works great in most conditions ....except when it's dry & dusty (i live in Australia). the hub seems to have a bit more resistance than normal. i appreciate that it may be the chain rather thanthe hub but the clikbox shifter also seems to be a little stiffer than normal too.

Anyone else had these problems?

re your stiff shifting, I recently experienced my shifter stiffening up considerably...tried all the ussual recomended fixes ie checking the cable liners etc, and couldnt fix it. I knew it was the cables cos i could swap wheels with my girlfriends bike and the shifting worked fine.  I ended up changing my shifter cables from the rohloff ones to Shimano XTR cables and housings and the shifting now works very very well better than it ever was with the rohloff cables???!!!! Would be interested if anyone else has experience with alternative shifter cables to the rohloff ones.
