Magura HS33 Brake Squeal
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:39:37 AM »
I've recently upgraded to a set of HS33's on my Super Galaxy.

They're really great brakes, apart from the noise when they're damp.

In the dry, they're silent, in the wet, they're not too bad, but when the rims are cold and damp, the noise drives me mad.

In their setup instructions, Magura highlights the fact that the brakes should be kept parallel.

Is it ok to toe-in the pads slightly as I would with canti's, or does this seriously affect the performance of the Maguras?

Would different pads help.  I'm currently using the black pads that came with the brakes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Adrian

I've had Hs33's on my Kona MTB for about 5 years, I've always set them up with 'toe-in' and never had any problems or squeal (but what do I know!)
