Replacement chain
« on: May 19, 2010, 08:19:04 PM »
Planning to flip the sprocket/chainring on my RST.
It seems the Rohloff SLT-99 chain I have on is no longer in production,
so wondered what the preferred substitute out there might be?
Would the 'KMC Z8RB Anti Rust Chain 116 Links 8 Speed' do the job?

Would appreciate any advice as usual.....

I'm currently on SRAM PC68 again.  They are an old model but SJS had some recently and they perform better than others i've tried eg. the PC48 rusted badly and the half-link affair was dreadful.  That said some folks on here get much more mileage than me out of chains.

+1 for the SRAM PC68.

I Belive that this is now renamed  PC-890 but I might be wrong on this.  After 12000  all weather miles, on my last chain, I did have some surface rust but on the whole I have been very pleased with the PC68

And i will recommend the KMC Z51!

12000 miles and around the £5 mark - splendid.

So Cake, not only do you get mega-mileage out of your tyres,
your chain wear doubly-outlasts mine...[peeved admiration]
How often do you change your socks?

Thanks for the replies - Might have to plump for the cheaper option
this time round

I have a KMC Z610HX on my RST which has done 11,000km .

It has lengthened roughly an eighth of a turn of the EBB.

A bit heavy but still working absolutely fine.

Crudson, they get changed when they wander off, of their own accord, during the night..... ;D
