Thats a lovely looking machine Chris, i hope you do enjoy many more miles!

How are you finding the Rohloff, if you haven't owned one before?

Gary.

Hi Gary,

So far found the Rohloff to be great if a little noisy.  However, I was expecting the noise issue having read other people's posts on these hubs.

I had the bike geared as low as possible (within the Rohloff warranty restrictions) as I have a particular passion for mountinous terrain but even so it seems adequately geared at the top so as not to be a real issue.

I'm looking forward to getting her out on a decent tour soon.

Chris

Welcome to the forum and Thorn ownership!  It's a great feeling when the bike arrives, I remember it very well.  Mine's now nearly 2yrs old and has more than 5000 miles on the clock but it's still a pleasure to ride each day.  Don't worry about the rohloff noise, I can still tell when I'm in 6 or 7 but otherwise I've completely forgotten about it.
You seem to have it kitted out for expedition use -do you have plans?  Enjoy!

Hi Geocycle,

I'm not worried about the Rohloff noise and like you I'll live with it.

I did indeed get it kitted out for expedition use.  At some time in the future (two or three years possibly) I'm planning to cycle from the UK to NZ via all the lovely mountainous regions along the way (plenty of those I'm glad to say!).

In the meantime I'm in the process of saving up and getting some UK trips planned.
